ACC Ltd plans to set up a 1Mta fly ash-based Portland Pozzolana unit in Udupi district of Karnataka. The plant will be located near the Udupi Power project, from where it will source fly ash. China National Building Material Co Ltd (CNBM) plans to invest US$350m to build a cement factory in the next two years in Indonesia’s main Java island. Saudi Arabia sees April sales up 16%

Saudi Arabia’s cement sector recorded sales growth of 16 per cent in April, the highest in more than a year. Domestic cement sales grew to 4.2Mt in April, compared with 3.61Mt in the same period last year, said analysts from NCB Capital. India’s No 2 cement producer, ACC Ltd, said on Wednesday shipments in May rose 13.7 per cent from a year earlier to 1.99Mt. The company, in which Holcim holds about 46 per cent, said production in May rose to 2.01Mt from 1.82Mt a year ago.
