China Resources Cement to buy three lines in Shanxi

China Resources Cement Holdings Ltd, a leading cement producer in Southern China, announced yesterday that it plans to buy three cement production lines for CNY280m (US$43m) in Shanxi Province in North China, sources reported. One of the lines is currently in operation and has a capacity of 370,000tpa of cement. The other two are under construction with a designed capacity of 1.55Mt each. They are expected to be put into operation in 2012 and 2013.

Rate of global demand appears to have slowed in April

Data on cement demand in April is currently available for 11 of the 19 countries where Jefferies track monthly shipments data. It increased in April in all eight of the emerging markets, but the growth rate slowed in five of these countries. Asia Cement to benefit from rising China prices

UBS Securities said Tuesday that rising product prices in China are expected to boost the bottom line of Asia Cement Corp., one of Taiwan’s leading cement producers.
