In January 2011, Ukrainian cement production rose by 96.2%, compared with January 2010, to 258,000t, the State Statistics Service has informed. Colombian cement production in December 2010 reached 894,003t, 11.2 per cent higher than the same month in 2009.

 Domestic shipments were 760,135t, an increase of 8.4 per cent compared to December 2009 (701,406t).

Peruvian shipments increase 5.56%

Shipments of cement in the Peruvian market totaled 643,264t in January 2011, 5.56 per cent more than that recorded in the same month of 2010, when they totaled 609,402t, reported the Asociación de Productores de Cemento (ASOCEM).

Jaypee sees capacity utilisation improving, India

Jaiprakash Associates today said the capacity utilisation of the industry in general will be around 75-85% in next fiscal with the company at the upper end. Uzbekistan increased cement production by 0.3% YoY in 2010, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said. Last year local production stood at 6.87Mt. In 2009, production of cement in Uzbekistan grew by 3.1% YoY to 6.8Mt.

Japan’s largest cement producer Taiheiyo Cement Corp plans to raise cement prices by between Y1000 (US$12) and Y1500/t, starting with April shipments, to reflect higher costs for raw materials, the Nikkei reports.
