Djibouti cement project receives loan

Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) has extended a Line of Credit (LoC) of US$14m as additional amount to the government of Djibouti for completing a cement plant project in Djibouti. It has earlier extended two LoCs of US$10m each to finance a cement plant project in Djibouti. Exim Bank will reimburse 100 per cent of contract value to the Indian exporter, upfront upon the shipment of goods/provision of services.

Cement dealers in Abuja have decried the scarcity and high cost of the product in the country. Jordan Lafarge Cement Factories Company on Wednesday said the losses it incurred last year, which stood at JD953,000 (US$1.36m) compared to net profits of JD45.7m generated in 2009, is due to the "unfair" competition in the cement industry in Jordan.
