Yanbu Cement to double production capacity in 2011

Yanbu Cement Co. said a new production line will start operations in the third-quarter, doubling output capacity at Saudi Arabia’s fifth largest clinker maker. The new line, the fifth, will increase Yanbu Cement’s annual production capacity by 3.6Mt to 7Mt, said general manager Saud Saleh Islam in an interview with Bloomberg. Saudi Arabia, the largest Arab economy, is increasing cement production to cope with a real estate boom and demand in infrastructure projects.

China’s cement demand to hit 2.1bn tons this year

China is likely to continue a strong demand for cement in 2010, which may grow 12% year on year to nearly 2.1bnt this year, said Xiangzhong Kong, secretary-general of the China Cement Association. Eastern Province Cement Yemeni subsidiary to hike capital

Saudi cement producer Eastern Province Cement Company (EPC) that it would allocate US$15m to participate in the capital hike of its Yemen-based subsidiary, Saudi Yemeni Cement Co Ltd, to US$150m. EPC currently owns 30% in the Yemeni firm. After the capital hike, its stake will be worth US$45m, up from US$30m. The ownership structure and ratio will be preserved and EPC’s stake will remain at 30%.

Russia’s Mordovcement says 2010 cement output up 13%

Mordovcement, one of Russia’s largest cement producers, increased its cement output 13% in 2010 to 3.76Mt, the company said on Friday. "We sold 3.75Mt of cement, a 14.5% growth comparing with 2009. We also sold 70,600t of cement clinker to Belarus," the company said.
