APCMA reports declining local and export dispatches

All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) reports that cement dispatches declined by 9.1 per cent to 5.214Mt in October 2021 against 5.735Mt in the year-ago period. Cement production declined 14 per cent YoY in August 2021 to reach an index of 67, when compared with the base year of 2015, according to Federbeton, Italy’s concrete association. Iran is facing the prospect of power shortages amid an insufficient supply of natural gas, according to Trend News. Portland and blended cement shipments in the USA and Puerto Rico, including imports, advanced 4.9 per cent YoY to 10.1Mt in August 2021, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cement sales in Vietnam fell by a quarter YoY but edged up by five per cent to 3,684,047t in September 2021, according to data published by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Cement price stabilises in Lubumbashi

The price of grey cement in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, is stabilising at CDF15,000-16,000/bag (US$7.58-8.09), when compared with CDF20,000-25,000 in previous years, according to ACP, the Congolese press agency. The trend is due to an increase in domestic cement production from CARRILU and Grande Cimenterie du Katanga, which came online 10 months ago. In addition, the market supply is supplemented by imports from Zambia.
