Minorities virtually eliminate Italcementi’s net profit

Argentine cement dispatches see month-on-month rise

Cement dispatches from Argentine cement producers, including exports, in June 2010 reached 818,933t representing an increase of 3.1% on May’s figures. Compared to June 2009, cement dispatches were 1.7 per cent higher.

Cimentos de Moçambique expands to meet growing demand

Cimentos de Moçambique factory, located in Matola in Mozambique’s Maputo province plans to double its cement production capacity to 1Mta, as of May 2011, the chairman of the company’s executive commission, Steffen Kasa told Mozambican newspaper Notícias.

India’s Ambuja July cement shipments down 1.2%

Ambuja Cements Ltd India’s No. 3 cement maker, reported shipments in July fell 1.2 per cent from a year ago to 1.42Mt. The company, in which Holcim holds about 46 per cent, said production in July fell to 1.41Mt from 1.44Mt a year earlier.

Votorantim sees Natal plant completion in February 2012

Adani imports coal for three Indian producers

Adani Enterprises Ltd., India’s biggest coal importer, plans to import 400,000t of the fuel from South Africa for three major Indian cement producers. Adani, based in Ahmedabad, will import the coal by the end of this year, an unnamed source said. The coal will be sourced as part of orders for 200,000t from ACC and 100,000t each from Grasim Industries Ltd’s cement unit and Jaypee Cement Ltd, he said. European cement makers posted weak or opaque outlooks on Friday, adding to investor concern about the patchy recovery in global construction markets. New Angolan factories to boost production

At least six new cement factories will be built in the coming three years in the country, so as to increase the offer of the product in the market. 
This was said on Wednesday in Lobito District, in the central Benguela Province, by the national director for construction materials, Manuel Victor.

Lafarge said second-quarter profit fell 15 per cent and pledged to extend costs cuts and asset sales to reduce its debt as it reduced its forecast for demand in 2010.
