Egypt may scrap cement licences on weak demand

Kerosam Industries plans capex, India

Kesoram Industries Ltd plans to invest INR11.25bn on capex in FY11, its chairman said on Thursday. 

"Considering the expected growth in demand for cement, we have decided to further expand the clinker production capacity by 1.7Mta," BK Birla, chairman, Kesoram Industries Ltd, told shareholders during the company’s annual general meeting.

New Khazakstan plant commissioned

Mynaral Tas Company, together with French investor Vicat Group started up its 1.2Mta cement plant on Monday. The plant is located in Zhambyl Oblast, in southern Kazakhstan. "The plant will produce cement for construction of Western Europe - Western China highway and the Balkhash power plant," said Zhambyl region akim Kanat Bozumbayuev during the commissioning. He noted that the first shipment of cement clinker is planned in two months.

ACC sees marginal YoY rise in sales, India

Indian producer ACC Ltd expects a marginal year-on-year rise in its cement sales in August because of an improvement in transportation facilities, Managing Director Sumit Banerjee said Wednesday.
