Cement consumption in Indonesia increased by four per cent YoY in March 2017 to 5.02Mt following flat sales volumes in the first two months of the year. The increase is attributed to a sharp rise in demand in Central Java and East Java. State-owned cement manufacturer Semen Indonesia will distribute cash dividends worth IDR304.92/share from its 2016 fiscal year. PT Semen Indonesia has appointed former Jakarta governor and State Intelligence Agency (BIN) director, Sutiyoso, its president commissioner. Semen Indonesia postpones Rembang opening

Publicly-listed cement manufacturer PT Semen Indonesia (SI) has decided to postpone the initial launch of its new production facility in Rembang, Central Java, for several months due to a prolonged dispute with the local community. “[The facility] will start commercial operation in either May or June. We are not in a hurry,” SI corporate secretary Agung Wiharto said as quoted by kontan.co.id on Monday. The production facility was initially scheduled to start operating in April.

Semen Baturaja full-year profit down 21%, revenue rises slightly

Indonesia state-owned producer Semen Baturaja’s profit declined by 21 per cent in 2016 to IDR274.09bn (US$20.6m) due to revenue growth being lower than its costs, the Jakarta Post reports. Cement sales in Indonesia rose 0.2 per cent YoY to 4.54Mt in February 2017 from 4.54Mt in the same month one year earlier, said Indonesia Investments.
