Indonesia's cement consumption rose 9.9 per cent YoY to 5.68Mt in January 2018. The growth of demand is being attributed to rising cement demand on the back of the government-led infrastructure development programmes, particularly the construction of toll roads. A new packaging plant in the port of Pulau Baai, due to come on-stream later this year, has led PT Semen Padang to target cement sales of 442,100t in 2018. Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa expects to complete construction of its new cement terminal in Palembang in the first quarter of 2018, according to Indonesia Investments. Semen Indonesia has recorded a 10.2 per cent YoY increase in sales volumes to 15.34Mt in 2017, compared to 13.92Mt the previous year, according to data from the Indonesian Cement Association.
