Iran cement output up 23 per cent

Iran produced over 47.44Mt of cement in the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20 2009). The volumes show a 17 per cent increase in comparison to the same period the previous year, the Mehr News Agency reported. Some 62.84Mt of clinker was also produced in the same period – a 15 per cent YoY increase. Murli Industries Ltd has announced that it plans to set up cement plants in Rajasthan and Karnataka. According to recent data from the US Geological Survey (USGS) total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for January 2010 were about 3.4Mt. Madras to increase Ariyalur capacity, India

Madras Cements Ltd, the flagship company of Ramco Group, plans to invest INR800 crore to hike the capacity of its Ariyalur facility in Tamil Nadu from 2Mt to 4.5Mta by April 2011. The company also plans to set up a 65MW captive power plant. Madras Cements has a 22% market share in the cement market of Tamil Nadu. After the expansion, the company plans to foray into neighbouring states of Karnataka and Kerala.

Rain Commodities targets 10Mt of capacity, India
