Philippine cement sales up 16 per cent

Cement sales in the Philippines grew 16 per cent in the first two months of the year to 2.5Mt, the Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (Cemap) said. Song Da Yaly Cement’s net profit falls

Song Da Yaly Cement Joint Stock Company (SDY) made a net profit of VND3.34bn in 2009 compared to VND5.68bn in 2008. Its net revenues fell 22.6% on year to VND200.33bn during the period, the company said in an audited financial statement sent to the exchange.

Recovery Act funding will help Staten Island Terminal, LLC go ahead with a US$51.7m cement import and distribution facility located in the Elm Park section of Staten Island. West China Cement Yangxian plant running at full production

West China Cement said its Yangzian plant, located in Hanzhong County commenced production and sales of cement in the last week of March following the firing up of the kiln on December 31, and it is currently running at full production capacity. The plant, the first of two planned by the company in Hanzhong County, comprises a 2500tpd NSP clinker line with a cement capacity of 1.1Mta. The company’s second plant, the Mianxian works, is on schedule and commissioning is expected in 3Q10.

HeidelbergCement seen down on placement

Shares in HeidelbergCement  indicated 2.1 per cent lower after Commerzbank says it has placed 4.5 million shares in the producer maker before the market opens. The bank is placing the shares, equivalent to a stake of 2.4 per cent in HeidelbergCement, at EUR42.50, one trader says. Commerzbank adds it is selling shares that it and UniCredit received as part of the restructuring of the Merckle family’s debt.
