Chile’s three cement producers - Bío Bío, Polpaico and the local unit of Lafarge -  posted mixed results in the first three months of 2009 compared to the same year-ago period, according to separate reports filed with the country’s securities regulator SVS. Cementos Bío Bío posted consolidated net profits of 415mn pesos (US$739,262), a 91.5% drop from the 4.87bn pesos reported for the same period in 2008. Peru’s Jan-April cement production up

Peru’s overall cement production rose 3.78% in January to April to 2.17Mt, compared with 2.09Mt in the same period last year, the National Association of Cement Producers, or Asocem, said Friday. Asocem said cement production totaled 524,640t in April this year, down from 551,888t in March. Cement production in Peru has grown alongside the expanding economy, which grew by 9.8% last year.

East African Portland says profit may plunge, Kenya
