Booming Poland boosts H+H

Zambia, Congo mining projects face cement shortage -Zambian Govt

Increased investment in Congo and Zambia’s copper belts by mining companies has led to increased demand for cement, creating a shortage which could hurt the progress of most projects, Zambia’s Ministry of Commerce and Trade said in a recent report.     Surveys carried out by the ministry have established that Zambia’s Copper Belt Province is the most affected by this shortage, the report said. Caribbean Cement Company says it is almost back to normal operations, following the passage of Hurricane Dean. "The plant has not been hit hard and there are no major disruptions to the plant as in the cases of hurricanes Ivan and Wilma," said Anthony Haynes, director general at Carib Cement. A new cement factory planned for Hidd meets all legal requirements and poses no threat to public health, the Industry and Commerce Ministry reiterated yesterday.
