Semen Padang sets export target

PT Semen Padang, based in Padang in West Sumatra, plans to export 1.35Mt of cement this year, including 500,000t of clinker. The Polish government statistics agency GUS released its July survey on the construction market prospects. The industry outlook has improved for 28 per cent of the companies surveyed while 16 per cent of companies reported that market conditions have deteriorated. The balance felt there was no change. US legislators have upgraded their proposals for a US infrastructure funding program from $275bn to $299bn. This proposal appears to have the backing of the Bush administration. Higher operating revenues helped push Cementos Lima SA’s second-quarter net income to PEN25.4m compared with PEN25.1m in the same quarter last year. Cementhai Sales and Marketing, the Siam Cement Group’s flagship distribution arm, predicts total sales of up to TBH45bn  this year, up 20 per cent from last year, driven by growth in the property sector.
