Saying the Philippine Supreme Court (SC) decision to nullify safeguard tariffs on imported cement undermined the government’s role in ensuring a "level playing field", the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) yesterday said it would launch a legal effort to have the ruling overturned.  Trade Sec. Malaysia’s YTL Cement said it plans to acquire a 32.10 per cent stake in cement manufacturer Perak-Hanjoong Simen Sdn. Bhd. for 75.25 million ringgit (US$19.8m).
