Bhutan-based cement producer Dungsam Cement is looking to market its cement in northeastern India. A wholly-owned subsidiary of the government’s Druk Holdings & Investments, Dungsam Cement operates a 1.36Mta cement works in Nganglam, southeast Bhutan, and close to India. Saudi Arabia's minister of commerce and industry, Dr Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, approved the licence for the establishment of Baha Cement Co, in Riyadh, with a share capital of US$106.7m (SAR400m). Cement sales in Indonesia declined by 0.3 per cent to 4.64Mta as heavy rains triggered extensive flooding, causing disruption to construction activity and distribution networks. Caribbean Cement Co Ltd (CCCL) is seeking to improve the usage of cement in the construction of roads with plans to double sales to this segment. The Philippines' Department of Industry is stepping up its monitoring of cement prices following recent reports of price hikes. Polish January output and sales jump

Poland's cement production totalled 521,100t in January 2014, up by 34.4 per cent YoY, according to data from the country's cement producers association, SPC. Cement sales jumped to 553,300t, marking an increase of 35.7 per cent YoY. For the 12 months to December 2013, cement output declined by 7.5 per cent to 14.45Mt, while sales dropped by 7.6 per cent to 14.62Mt.

Italcementi's turnover declined by 5.4 per cent in 2013 to EUR4235.4m, or by 2.2 per cent on a comparable basis. Lafarge has been ordered by Egypt’s Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs (MSEA) to halt its preparations to build storage units for petcoke, according to a statement by the ministry on Tuesday.
