Ambuja Cements December dispatches rise marginally

Ambuja Cements dispatched 1.93Mt of cement in December, marginally higher than the 1.83Mt in the corresponding month last year, a company release today said. China cement growth slows in November

China’s cement output growth in November 2011 stood at 11.2 per cent YoY, 6.1 percentage points lower than previous year. Nevertheless, China’s cement output reached 1.89trnt in the first 11 months of last year, an increase 17.2 per cent YoY, 1.6 percentage points faster than previous year. Profits of China’s building materials industry surged 53.1 per cent YoY to CNY243.7bn (US$38.68bn) in the first 11 months of 2011.

Pakistan cement dispatches likely to grow

Pakistan cement manufacturers and exporters are expected to see an average growth of 3.17 per cent per annum in the 2012-2014 period with growth likely to be spurred by a number of measures. Pakistan produced/dispatched 31.43Mt in 2010-2011 and registered negative growth of 8.13 per cent. Capacity utilisation stood at 69 per cent. Hail Cement signs deal for housing complex, Saudi Arabia

Hail Cement Company said it had signed a housing contract with the joint venture of Teberak Trading and Contracting Company and Mo B Co. for Civil Construction. The contract value is SR117.8m according to a statement posted on the Tadawul website. It said the project will be completed in four phases. Ambuja Cements reported a rise of 7.3% in December 2011 cement production at 1.91Mt from 1.78Mt for December 2010. Meanwhile dispatches were at 1.93Mt compared with 1.82Mt, registering an increase of 6.04%. For January-December 2011 period, cement production and dispatches were 20.96Mt and 20.95Mt respectively, compared with 20.12Mt and 20.12Mt respectively in the corresponding period last year

Al Jouf Cement to boost capacity, Saudi Arabia

Saudi cement producer and trader Al Jouf Cement said Monday in a bourse filing it will invest SAR885m (US$236m) to launch a second production line, in addition to a dedicated power plant. Construction output is forecast to fall by more than 5% this year and remain flat throughout 2013 according to the latest forecasts, published today by the Construction Products Association. MCA Phosphates, the Singapore-based joint venture between Zuari Industries and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation, has bought a 30% equity stake in mining company Fosfatos del Pacifico (Fospac) of Peru for US$46.1m, a Zuari Industries release said. Fospac is a subsidiary of Cementos Pacasmayo.
