Saudi Cement Co, Saudi’s biggest cement supplier by volume, said the company has signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday with an undisclosed partner for a new cement company, Global Cement Company. The Saudi producer plans to buy a 40% stake, reflecting a investment of KWD800,000 (US$2.9m). Pakistan’s cement exports to India up 53.8%

Cement exports from Pakistan to India increased 53.8% to reach 0.16Mt in the first quarter of FY2012. The rise is attributed partly to an improvement in bilateral relations between the two countries. However, seaborne exports have fallen significantly by 24% QoQ to 0.85Mt while cement exports overall advanced by a mere 0.21% YoY. Indonesia’s cement sales, an indicator of economic growth in Southeast Asia’s largest economy, rose 52% in September from a year ago due to increasing property and infrastructure building, an industry official said on Wednesday. USA: Fredonia cement plant to close its doors

After more than 100 years in operation a Fredonia cement plant in Kasnsas, USA announces it’s closing.  In March Lafarge Cement plant will close its doors for good. The plant has 73 employees. Indonesia: Semen Gresik revenue up 12%

State cement producer PT Semen Gresik Tbk. recorded a 10 to 12% increase in total revenue in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year, a top executive said on Wednesday.
