Sai Son Cement to set up new plant in Vietnam

The management board of Sai Son Cement Joint Stock Co has given approval for the Nam Son Cement Plant to be set up and be operated under the guidance and management of SCJ. Construction work is expected to begin in the 3Q11. In its 2011 business plan, the company targeted production of 321,870t of cement and 186,375t of clinker, bringing in total revenue of VND329.24bn, pre-tax profit of VND26bn and after tax profit of VND19.5bn.

Qassim Cement Company said it expects to post a rise of more than 7% in net profits for the third quarter YoY, thanks to increased sales and improved operating performance. Preliminary data and market estimates for Brazil’s domestic market show that cement sales during the January-September 2011 period advanced 7.7% YoY to 47.2Mt. In September 2011, 5.8Mt was sold, also up 7.7% on September 2010. South Africa September sales see 12.7% YoY increases

Recent data from the Cement and Concrete Institute of South Africa shows that sales for September 2011 totaled 1.1Mt compared to 0.98Mt in 2010, up 12.7% – the highest growth experienced in the industry since April 2007, when the domestic sales grew by 17.7% YoY. UltraTech Cement, the Aditya Birla company, said production for the April to September 2011 period stood at 18.596Mt as against 18.633Mt during April to September 2010 period. Dispatches have been sustained at 18.613Mt during April to September 2011 vis a vis 18.614Mt in the corresponding period of 2010. Cement production for the month of September 2011 was 2.77Mt and dispatches were 2.756Mt.

Novorostsement first-half net profit increases

OJSC Novorostsement’s 1H11 net profit rose 5.41-fold to RUB916.210m from RUB169.119m for the same period in 2010, the company reported. Revenue increased 41.88% to RUB4.604bn from RUB3.244bn, the sales profit 3.34-fold to RUB1.24bn from RUB371.557m.
