India’s ACC to consider merging three units

India’s second-largest cement maker by capacity, Friday said its board will meet on February 3 to consider merging three subsidiaries with company. The subsidiaries are Encore Cement And Additives Pvt Ltd, Lucky Minmat Ltd. and National Limestone Company Pvt. Ltd. ACC, 46-per cent owned by Holcim, will also report earnings on the same day.

Vietnam cement sales seen up 10%

Cement consumption in Vietnam is expected to increase by nine to 10 per cent to 56Mt this year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. India’s Supreme Court on Monday directed the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APPGC) to supply fly ash to cement firms Zuari Cement and India Cement at INR250/t (US$5.48). Watchdog analyses acquisition of Lafarge Betoes by Secil

Portugal’s competition watchdog Autoridade da Concorrencia (AdC) has started analysing the deal of the acquisition of concrete firm Lafarge Betoes by Portuguese lime and cement producer Secil. Secil signed an agreement for the acquisition of 100% in Lafarge Betoes for EUR65m (US$87.5m) at the end of December 2010. The deal was announced by Secil’s parent group Semapa. Lafarge Betoes operates in the concrete and aggregates segment, holding 30 concrete plants and four aggregates facilities.
