Siam Cement Group, Thailand’s third-largest company by market value, is interested in setting up a cement plant at a a multi-billion dollar port and infrastructure in Myanmar. Dalmia Bharat Enterprises will invest INR25bn (US$554m) to set up two cement plants of 2.5Mt each in about 2.5 years, a top official said on Friday. China prices soar due to energy cuts

Cement prices in China have risen to record highs as curbs on electricity supplies by local governments affect output.  The production disruption, despite being temporary, has seen the average price of cement reached CNY400/t (US$60/t). In some regions such as the east of the country, prices have rocketed to CNY500/t (US$75/t). The east is reported to have seen overall price increases of some 40% since August.

Some Indian cement companies cut prices

Some cement companies Thursday cut prices by INR10/50kg bag in southern India, said a Chennai-based dealer. "Smaller south-based companies have cut prices as stocks aren’t moving with the momentum seen in October," the dealer, who didn’t wish to be named, told Dow Jones Newswires. Demand has been hurt also by the monsoons – which traditionally hit southern states in the October-December quarter – over the past few weeks.
