Ultrahawke has commissioned three weighbridges at Melbourne Cement’s loading facility in Port Melbourne. The machines are mounted in shallow pits and have access hatches over the loadcells to avoid the need for confined space permits during servicing and cleaning. Lafarge  has achieved 100 per cent reliability of its cement kiln pre-heater fans, following the installation of two 1.8 MW ABB drives, according to a report by Process Engineer magazine. Lafarge Cement’s plant at Hope in Derbyshire produces 1.2Mt of cement a year. Siemens has delivered the key electrical and information and communication technology component to Ohorongo Cement. Ohorongo Cement, the first cement factory for Namibia, is under construction at a site between Otavi and Tsumeb. German based Polysius AG, is constructing the plant on behalf of Schwenk Cement. FLSmidth supplementary order with Russian customer

FLSmidth has signed a contract with OOO Kurskaya stroitelnaya companiya for supplementary equipment weighing in at more than 8000t for the cement plant FLSmidth signed contract for in the beginning of 2008.   Valued at approximately 40m euro (DKK 300m), the contract is for additional machinery parts, ducts, pipes, bricks and insulation for the machines being supplied by FLSmidth to the plant.   Delivery of the equipment will start in the first half of 2009 and will be completed during 2010.

VDM secures $6m Cemex contract

VDM Group Ltd  announced today that its subsidiary VDM Resources & Infrastructure Pty Ltd, trading as Rocktec, has been awarded a contract by Cemex at Port Hedland, Western Australia. The contract is for the screening and processing of a range of core and armour rock sizes for marine construction. China’s Sinoma unit wins EUR169.6m Azerbaijan order

Sinoma International Engineering Co Ltd said its CBMI Construction Co Ltd unit has won a contract to build a clinker line valued at EUR169.6m for Garadagh Cement OJSC in Azerbaijan. In a statement filed with Shanghai’s stock exchange, Sinoma said that the production line is 34km from Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, and will have production capacity of 4000tpd.

FLSmidth wins first cement project in Siberia

FLSmidth has signed a contract for its first cement project in the Siberian region of Russia. Equipment for a complete greenfield cement plant is to be supplied to Russian LLC SGMK Group’s (SGMK) "Uchulensky Cement Plant" close to Novokuznetsk some 450 kilometres southeast of Novosibirsk.
