Vietnam’s cement and clinker exports surged 63.2 per cent to 17.65Mt and 73 per cent to US$656.3m in the first seven months of 2018, according to the country’s General Department of Customs. Around 26.9 per cent of exports were shipped to Bangladesh, Vietnam’s largest cement and clinker export market. SCG Vietnam reports 20% revenue increase in 1H18

Siam Cement Group (SCG) Vietnam has announced a 20 per cent surge in revenue to VND14.53trn (US$631.74m) in the first half of the year. Total cement consumption in Vietnam increased to 5.812Mt in June, representing a YoY rise of 126 per cent and a MoM fall of nine per cent, according to the Vietnam National Cement Assocation (VNCA). The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has approved Long Thanh Cement JSC’s plans to raise the capacity at its facility in Tan Tao, Ha Nam, from 0.91Mta to 2.3Mta. The Ministry also permitted the company to change the name of the unit to Long Thanh cement plant, according to Viet Nam News. Authorities in Quang Ngai province, Vietnam, have threatened to shut down a plant in Binh Dong Commune if its management does not improve air quality and dust emissions, according to Viet Nam News. Vietnam’s Vicem has reported a 10.1 per cent YoY increase in cement and clinker sales for 1H18, with the total 14.7Mt including 11.74Mt of exports. Additionally, the company’s cement and clinker output rose 8.5 per cent and 6.4 per cent to 10.15Mt and 11.56Mt, respectively.
