Vietnamese consumption rises 30% YoY in June

Vietnamese cement consumption has increased 30 per cent YoY to 8.71Mt in June, according to the Construction Materials Department of the Ministry of Construction. Approximately 6.91Mt was sold domestically (up 29 percent YoY), while 1.8Mt was exported (up 35 per cent YoY). Consumption in the country rose 25 per cent YoY in the Jan-June 2018 period, rising to 51.42Mt. Exports reached 15.42Mt in the six-month period, meeting 85.6 per cent of the target volume for the year.

Vietnamese cement producers have sold 8.71Mt in June, up 30 per cent YoY, said the Vietnam Building Material Association. Domestic demand reached 6.91Mt, representing a 29 per cent increase when compared with June 2017, including 2.18Mt sold by Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem). Vicem announces 7% sales increase

Vietnam’s leading cement producer, Vicem, has announced a 6.7 per cent YoY increase in sales of clinker and cement to 9.2Mt for the first four months of 2018, according to Vietnam News. Vietnam has seen a 68 per cent increase in cement exports for the 1Q18, following the shutdown of several Chinese plants, according to Viet Nam News. Vicem Hoang Mai Cement receives approval to construct plant

Despite issuing a request to relocate last year, authorities of Vietnam’s Nghe An province have now granted approval for Vicem Hoang Mai Cement JSC to develop its Hoang Mai 2 facility in the area, according to Viet Nam News. Therefore, the company will construct the plant in the originally intended location of Hoang Mai 2 industrial park, Quynh Vinh commune. Once fully operational, the plant will have a 0.92Mta clinker capacity and a capability to produce 1.15Mta of cement.

FiCo Tay Ninh Cement to begin constructing second line

FiCo Tay Ninh Cement JSC (TAFiCO) will commence construction of the second line at its plant in Tanh Hoa, Tay Ninh province, on 15 April. The project represents a total investment of VND4800bn (US$210.6m) and will use European equipment. The kiln has been designed with a 4000tpd clinker capacity, which can be upgraded to 5000tpd in the future. The project is scheduled for completion in 2020.
