Yanbu Cement Co Q105 net profit at US$28.1m

Saudi cement producer Yanbu Cement Company (YCC) posted a net profit of SAR105.2m (US$28.1m) for the first quarter of 2005, slightly up from SAR104.9m (US$28m) in the year-ago period.  The company registered a 3.1 per cent YoY sales rise to SAR194.6m (US$51.9m) in the first three months of 2005. Gross profit grew two per cent to SAR111m (US$29.6m) for January to March 2005.  YCC’s total assets stood at SAR1.922bn (US$513m) at end-March 2005. 

Jaypee cement targets 10Mt output by 2007

ALLAHABAD, Apr 23: Jaypee cement is targetting a total output of 10Mt with its new plant in Himanchal Pradesh expected to commence production in 2007. Oman’s cement producer Raysut Cement Co achieved a net profit of OMR2.283m (US$5.9m) in the first quarter of 2005, compared to OMR1.382m (US$3.6m) in the same period of 2004, Oman’s bourse Muscat Securities Market (MSM) reported. CEMEX announced today that its consolidated net sales for the first quarter of 2005 were US$2.6 billion, 43 per cent higher than in the same period of 2004. According to Jordan Times, the Jordanian-Kuwaiti Holding Company (JKHC) will set up a $200 million cement factory in Jordan, the firm’s CEO announced. Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd India’s third largest cement maker reported a marginal drop in its fiscal third quarter net profit due to flat cement prices and higher costs.  Gujarat Ambuja’s net profit in the January-March quarter was down to INR1.43bn (US$32m) from INR1.45 bn in the same quarter a year ago.
