Cement production in Colombia in February 2011 stood at 754,075t, up 1.7 per cent on the same month in 2010. According to the Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadistica (DANE) deliveries were also up 2.1 per cent compared to February 2010. Holcim Maroc 2010 sales down 4%

Holcim Maroc recorded a four per cent drop in 2010 cement sales volumes recording 3.57Mt against 3.7Mt the year before. This decline in sales of the company, whose production capacity is estimated at 4.5Mt, comes in the context of a domestic cement market that only grew by 0.4 per cent in 2010 compared to 3.4 per cent growth in 2009, CEO of Holcim Maroc, Dominique Drouet, said.

Vietnam sales at 11.19Mt in first-quarter 2011

Vietnam’s cement sales stood at 11.19Mt in the first quarter of this year, fulfilling 20.5% of the sector’s full-year target. In March, the country consumed 5.01Mt, the Ministry of Construction reported. Cement production stood at 5.07Mt in March, raising the country’s total production in first-quarter to 11.67Mt, meeting 21.4% of the full-year target. The country’s cement consumption is forecast to stand between 54.5-56Mt this year, up 9-10 per cent on last year.

Mangalam benefits from strong northern India demand

Al-Duqm joint venture project on hold, Oman

A proposal to build a cement plant in Oman’s northern city of Al Duqm has been put on hold due to lack of long-term availability of natural gas to run the project.
