ACC buoyant about eastern region

Associated Cement Companies (ACC) is looking at acquisitions to expand its presence in the eastern region with the entry of Holcim as promoter-shareholder. It will work closely with Ambuja Cement Eastern Ltd (ACEL), in which the Holcim-controlled Ambuja Cement India holds a 95 per cent share. Morocco Asment Temara boosts production capacity

Moroccan cement maker Asment Temara, a subsidiary of Portuguese sector group Cimpor, has recently completed one of the stages of a project to increase production capacity ahead of an expected strong growth of domestic cement consumption, it was reported on June 28, 2005.  Cimpor entered Morocco in August 1996, when it took a majority stake in Asment Temara. In 1998, Cimpor created local company Betocim, specialising in ready-mixed concrete. 

Asia Cement invests in new Hubei plant

The Asia Cement Co., the second largest cement producer in Taiwan, has invested US$200m in its second plant in Wuhan Yangluo Economic Technical Development Zone, named Hubei Yadong Cement Co.   The new plant covers 69.4 hectares and is designed to have an annual cement production capacity of four million tons. Camargo Correa completes acquisition of Loma Negra

Loma Negra and Camargo Correa have informed the Argentine government that both companies completed all the stages of the negotiation process for the transfer of the Argentine cement manufacturing company to the Brazilian holding. The notification that the transaction, on the companies point of view, has been completed was delivered to Comissio Nacional de Defesa da Competicao (CNDC), the Argentine antitrust body. Moroccan cement sector shows continued growth

According to local reports, Morocco’s cement sector had witnessed an average 5.95 per cent growth last year compared with the previous year, supported by major housing and road projects in the Kingdom. Construction sector up in May

Argentina’s construction sector grew 8.9 per cent in May compared to the same month last year, according to a report by national statistics institute Indec.
