Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction reported that in August the country consumed 3.41Mt of cement, raising total demand in the first eight months to 31.65Mt, equalling to 58 per cent against the targeted plan for the year. Indonesia August cement sales fall 0.3 per cent

Indonesia’s cement sales fell 0.3 per cent in August from a year ago due to the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr festive season, data from the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) showed on Wednesday. Cement sales volumes in August slipped to 3,603,234t from 3,615,181t last year, Urip Trimuryono, chairman of the association, told Reuters. Sales rose 17 per cent YoY in July.

Brazil Jan-August sales up 7.6% YoY

Preliminary data and market estimates show that domestic cement sales in Brazil between the January-August 2011 period reached 41.4Mt, up 7.6 per cent on the same period of 2010. August 2011 sales were up 7.3 per cent YoY to 5.8Mt. For the 12 months between September 2010-August 2011, sales reached 62.61 per cent, up 9.6 per cent over the September 2009-August 2010 period. UltraTech to invest in capacity increases
