Henan Tongli profit declines, China

Henan Tongli Cement Co Ltd earned a net profit of CNY66.38m (US$10.83m) in 2013, a YoY decline of 59.58 per cent, China Business Newswire reported. Meanwhile, operating revenue decreased 2.89 per cent YoY to CNY4bn. The company attributed the downward trend in profit to low production capacity and a decrease in product price.

For the year 2013, Trinidad Cement Ltd Group recorded a notable improvement in its financial performance with EBITDA increasing by TTD268.9m, or 174 per cent, to TTD423.4m (US$66.3m). Cement prices in India increased throughout the country with the exception of the south due to high inventories in the region. On the other hand, prices in the north saw the highest increases due to supply constraints. Lafarge Cement Wapco Plc has revealed plans to invest an additional NGN1bn (US$1.37bn) in the next 3-4 years inline with the company's target of doubling capacity in Nigeria. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote Group, has said his conglomerate is planning to build a greenfield cement plant in Kenya. Lafarge Zambia is constructing the first cement depot in Chipata District in Eastern Province, valued at US$700,000. The depot will have a cement storage capacity of 3000t. State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem) saw output in January fall to 1.44Mt, a 9.4 per cent decline from December 2013 and 19.5 per cent reduction YoY. Of the total, 986,000t of cement and clinker were sold in the domestic market, down 28.8 per cent MoM and 40.2 per cent YoY, while 456,000t were exported, up 120.3 per cent MoM and 219 per cent YoY, respectively.
